Great Freeport Canoe Race 2013
On Tuesday, August 6, 2013, the Great Freeport Canoe Races took place at the Baldwin Boat Basin. Once again, Freeport Electric Employees and the community at large came out in force to take part in the festivities.
The first races of the day consisted of members of Freeport Electric paired with special needs athletes in three very exciting canoe races. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of all of these races were given medals, but all participants were awarded certificates to commemorate their good time. These races followed weeks worth of cooperative training from members of Freeport Electric and the special needs athletes.
As always, this fantastic event could not have taken place without event sponsors, the Freeport Police Athletic League and the Freeport Chamber of Commerce. Also, a warm thank you to the coach of our special needs athletes, Mrs. Marianne Endo. See you all next year!
