The Mayor of Freeport announced that most Freeport Residents were eligible for a free Home Performance with Energy Star® home energy audit, a state wide program run by NYSERDA and funded with revenue from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative market that Freeport Electric participates in.
According to NYSERDA more than 33,000 New Yorkers have significantly reduced their home energy bills as the result of an energy audit. Many homes have saved as much as $700 a year and have enjoyed benefits of increased comfort and improved resale value. By completing a simple online application and entering the past 12 months energy consumption history, Freeport households making less than $207,200 can receive a free Energy Audit from a Building performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) Accredited Contractor. This audit produces a detailed report that identifies wasteful energy equipment and practices and suggests improvements and steps to help lower your Utility bills. The best part is that participating homeowners may be eligible for low interest financing on qualifying improvements.
